Forget the terms kitsch, ironic, retro or any other it would seem are obligatory in such sentences, this new single from Reading based trio The Colours embraces all that is worth celebrating about pop music. With an undeniable yet unashamed 80s sound and a slight nod to the likes of Howard Jones, “Tonight I Let You Go” is packed with energy and vigour. With a tempo and beat that would have even the most gout ridden of toes tapping, the lyrics offer a lament to a broken relationship, providing the bitter-sweet twist which is the requirement of so many decent songs. A superb combination of synthesizer, guitar and drums work in harmony with some nice vocals to give hope to pop lovers everywhere. www.myspace.come/thecolours.
